Our founding members come from Haiti, India, Rwanda, Nigeria, Germany, China, the UK, Nigeria, Poland, and Brazil. We represent groups such as Auxiliary Ops, HR, Study Abroad, the Counseling Center, and Biological Sciences. Some of us have been with the University for several years, while some of us are just starting our career with Notre Dame. Some of us are relatively recent arrivals to the US, and some of us have been in the states for several decades. What we all have in common is our desire for an outlet that helps provide opportunities for career development, social support, networking, mentoring and community participation, as well as promote cultural awareness and employee engagement. Below is a list of our founding members along with their respective bios.
Dr. Mary Adeniyi Nigeria
Hi there! I am from Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, and the seventh most populous country in the world. I have lived on several continents as well as many states in the US. I immigrated to the US as an adolescent, and consider myself a "1.5-generation immigrant," or a 1.5G. This means my cultural identity is a combination of not only my Nigerian culture, but an aggregate of the cultures from all the places I lived growing up. I have a doctorate in Human & Organizational Learning from The George Washington University, and a masters in Human Resource Management from Nova Southeastern University. I am a certified MBTI practitioner, a certified professional life coach, and a certified global career development facilitator.
Dr. Satish Adusumilli India
I am originally from India. A Veterinarian, by profession (BVSc & AH, MVSc, PhD, DACLAMI), I came to the United States in 2003 to pursue a PhD at the University of Missouri. Then, I completed my residency from Wake Forest University, and subsequently worked in both the non-profit sector (at the University of Pittsburgh) and the private medical sector (Pfizer Inc.) before joining the University of Notre Dame in 2016 as the Director of the Firemann Life Sciences Center and Attending Veterinarian for the University. In my personal time, I like to cook, travel, and read, as well as to take walks around campus and the nearby beaches in Michigan and Indiana. And, of course, as a Veterinarian, I love to spend time with pets!

While working at Morris Inn, I concurrently worked on my Associate degree in Business Administration through the Notre Dame Learning Academy. Currently, I am working on my Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance at IUSB.

As part of my duties managing short-term programs, I teach a course of Intercultural Skills, and welcome highly-talented exchange students to our campus, facilitating their adaptation to the United States with cultural excursions, and engaging lectures from different on-campus professors and staff members. In NDSID, I am hoping to facilitate professional development opportunities for the group.
